The Children's Department is under the leadership of Monica Cook. Monica originally trained and worked as a teacher, later going to Bible College where she gained special honours. Monica also has a rural background having grown up as the daughter of a farmer in Norfolk.
We believe that the gospel takes children sertiously. Although we have no specific record of Jesus evangelising children we certainly have evidence that he did not believe that children should be marginalised. Many adult Christians in the UK today trace the beginnings of faith back to their childhood. We believe that children deserve the best ministry possible, and that they should feel included as part of the church of today (rather than the church of tomorrow).
Monica has been a pioneer in encouraging churches to release the potential of their children. She has organised an led prayer days for children, set up home groups for children where they encourage one another in being disciples of Jesus. We have seen children effectively evangelise other children as they eagerly share the good news with their friends.
Perhaps one of the significant differences between Christian ministry with children as compared to Christian ministry with adults is that the children have more fun! They really do discover the joy of living. Of course children are addults in the making, but they are still people in their own right. When they become Christians they are no more "Christians in the making" than any adult convert.
As a deep thinking educationalist Monica Cook has developed teaching programmes that integrate play by way of games and craft sessions into a carefully developed programme of Christian discipleship. These are available in the Rural Missions Shop as "Footsteps".
Monica also leads short term mission activities focused on children, family fun days and much more. If you would like to contact Monica please complete the form below and she will get back to you.
