1. Why not badge up all your Christian volunteer workers in the community with Hope 08 badges so that people can identify what you are doing with your faith. CPO are talking about making some Hope badges but if you have one of those badge makers you might try making your own.
2. Look for parts of the village that look neglected and offer to clean up or tidy up these areas. For example this might include bus stops, play areas, noticeboards, etc. You could adopt a noticeboard for a few years. Check with the Parish Council first!
3. Do you have attractive vergesat the entrance to your village? If not why not think about some appropriate bulbs or flower boxes. Talk to the Parish Council and County Council Highways about this.
4. Do you have registered drivers who could use the local coimmunity bus for trips out to the shops, or a summer picnic for older people in the village?
5. Arrange a village street party.
6. Is there a derelict site that could be turned into a garden?
7. If you might lose your post office how about exploring whether you could run this from your church premises.
8. You might find that a local doctor or health visitor would be very happy to run a clinic on your premises regularly. Your volunteers could support this with tea-making!
9. Offer to carry out a community audit - more information from sunrise@ruralmissions.org.uk
10. Organise an art on the green event
11. Offer lunches or cream teas for the over 60s.
12. Ask the Parish Council for their ideas!!
13. Organise a village fun day to cheer everyone up.
14. Some villages now hold an annual scarecrow event. This is a lot of fun.
